In the small and dim space, Feng Chenning leaned against the wall, pricked up his ears to catch the movements outside.
"Huh, I hope I can escape this disaster." Le Chengrou raised her hand to wipe the sweat from her forehead and said quietly.
Feng Chenning nodded slightly and clenched the dagger in his hand. The cold light of the blade was hidden in the darkness, just like a dormant beast, ready to strike.
But before the two of them could catch their breath, footsteps were heard outside the house, coming closer and closer.
"Humph, you think you can dodge it?"
The sneer of the leading black-clad man came through the crack in the door. "Search carefully, don't leave any corner unattended! The boss wants you alive, even if you have to cut off your hands and feet."
Hearing those people's voices, Le Chengrou's heart sank instantly.
All I could hear were the footsteps approaching, chaotic but orderly, obviously well-trained.
With a "bang", the door was kicked open roughly, and several beams of strong light from torches instantly pierced the darkness in the room, causing Le Chengrou's eyes to hurt, and she subconsciously raised her hands to cover them.
"Hey, here it is!"
The leading man in black heard the sound and smiled ferociously. The other men in black behind him rushed forward and the small space was instantly filled with a murderous aura.
Feng Chenning reacted extremely quickly, stood up quickly, and stabbed the leading man's throat with the dagger like lightning. The man in black dodged sideways and elbowed him with his backhand.
She ducked and dodged, raised her leg and kicked his knee, using the force to leap out of the encirclement and into an open space, buying time for Le Chengrou to escape.

In the quiet alley, shadows swayed. Le Chengrou knew that she could not fall behind, so she hid behind the half-collapsed old wall at the corner of the street.
His heart was beating like a drum, and his hands unconsciously clenched the corners of his clothes because of nervousness, and his wet palms soaked the fabric.
She gritted her teeth and stared at the battle in the alley. The protagonist of this dangerous fight was none other than Feng Chenning.
She was dressed in a dark outfit, and a few strands of hair were soaked with sweat, sticking to her cheeks, but it did not detract from the fierce fighting spirit around her.
The moonlight was dim, reflecting the dagger in her hand, which was flashing with a cold light, just like a meteor in the dark night, revealing its sharpness.
The men in black were like evil spirits, surrounding Feng Chenning from all directions like ghosts, their black robes fluttering, trapping Feng Chenning in the center of the enemy's territory.
Before the enemy could move, Feng Chenning rushed to the edge of the black-clad crowd. The dagger in her hand seemed like a living thing and instantly stabbed into the throat of the person closest to her.
The man was unable to react. He only felt a chill on his neck. An artery had been cut by the sharp blade. Blood gushed out like a fountain, splashing onto the black robe of someone else. The people around him were so frightened that they subconsciously took a step back.
The other man in black reacted quickly, holding his long sword horizontally in an attempt to block, but Feng Chenning was quick-witted and used the force to turn the dagger and slide it down the blade.
With a "swish", the opponent's wrist tendon was accurately cut, and the long knife fell to the ground with a clang, and blood splattered.
The black-clad men around her immediately reorganized their offensive, slashing with their long swords, the whistling wind from the swords blew up Feng Chenning's hair.
She dodged sideways nimbly, her figure as light as a swallow, and stuck close to one person's side. She used her elbow to exert force quickly and hit the person's vital point under the ribs.
There was a muffled "click" sound, accompanied by the man's painful groan. Feng Chenning took advantage of the situation and raised his dagger. The sharp blade pierced into his abdomen and twisted it violently. The bloody smell instantly filled the air.
Le Chengrou was stunned and covered her mouth with her hands unconsciously. She knew very well that Feng Chenning was a martial arts expert, but to fight one against many at such a close distance, his fierceness and brutality was still far beyond her imagination.
The battle intensified, and the men in black surrounded Feng Chenning with sharp swords.
Feng Chenning's figure flashed, and he slipped into the arms of a man in black like a ghost, and swiftly thrust his knee into his abdomen. The man in black groaned and curled up.
She took advantage of the situation and gave him another elbow strike on the back of the neck with a crisp sound. At the same time, the dagger in her hand turned around and stabbed fiercely into the ribs of another man in black who had rushed over. The dagger was inserted so deep that blood gushed out like a fountain and a warm, fishy and sweet smell filled the air.
She took advantage of the moment when the leading man in black was distracted and flew into the air with the help of the rebound force of the wall.
The dagger in his hand pierced straight through the black-clothed man's heart. With a shrill scream, the leader fell to the ground and the enemy formation was in chaos.
The remaining men in black fled in panic. Feng Chenning did not think of letting them go, but instead pursued them, leaving blood splattered wherever they went.
When the last ray of night was torn apart by the morning light with difficulty, the abandoned house filled with debris had turned into a Shura field.
The corpses of men in black were lying scattered among the broken bricks and tiles, their blood had soaked the cracked earth red, and a pungent fishy smell filled the air and drifted away in the rising morning breeze.
In the center of this horrific scene, Feng Chenning stood there covered in blood, his clothes stained with the enemy's blood and dust, his hair disheveled but his posture straight.
However, only by careful observation could one discover that her slightly trembling arms revealed the fierceness of the battle and her physical and mental exhaustion at the moment.
"Sister, are you okay?!"
Le Chengrou walked quickly towards Feng Chenning, who was leaning against the broken wall and panting, and looked him up and down with anxious eyes.
Seeing that Feng Chenning only had some minor injuries, Le Chengrou breathed a sigh of relief.
Feng Chenning raised his hand to wipe the sweat from his chin and forced a weak smile, "Fortunately, I didn't drag you down."
Le Chengrou shook her head. "They are too crazy. Sister, please leave quickly."
Feng Chenning patted her shoulder gently without saying anything more. She turned and looked at the inconspicuous little house deep in the forest, with worry and concern intertwined in her eyes. "I'm leaving, and you and grandma have to leave too. We shouldn't stay here for long. We can't be sure there will be other options."
"Okay! Let's go together."
After saying that, the two of them walked eagerly towards the depths of the forest.
Walking through the winding path, Le Chengrou saw her grandmother in a quaint little house hidden behind several old locust trees.
The candlelight flickered in the house. Grandma was sitting upright on an old wooden chair, twirling Buddhist beads in her hands. She looked calm, as if she had anticipated the bloody storm outside.
Seeing the two people coming in in a mess, grandma's eyes flashed with heartache, and she stood up to greet them, "Child, you have suffered."
Le Chengrou's eyes were red, and she threw herself into her grandmother's arms, "Grandma, we have to leave quickly, those men in black will definitely not give up."
Grandma stroked her hair gently and said, "Don't be afraid. I have packed all my things. I have expected this day to come."
After saying that, he pointed to a few bundles beside him.
Feng Chenning nodded towards her grandmother to express her apology.
If it wasn't for saving her, they wouldn't have been involved.
The two of them rested for a while, changed into clean clothes, treated their wounds, then picked up their bags and helped grandma out.
Outside the door, an old carriage was waiting quietly.
Le Chengrou helped grandma into the car and settled her down. Feng Chenning sat on the outside and looked around vigilantly.
The reins were flicked, the whip was raised lightly, the clatter of horse hooves could be heard, the wheels rumbled, crushing the fallen leaves on the ground, and the horse went farther and farther away along the winding path, leaving everything of last night behind.
Raising dust all the way, they ran towards a distant town where Feng Chenning had prepared a new residence. She wanted to hide her identity and start a new life.
